Collaborative Pianist Jeong-Eun Lee Appointed to School of Music Faculty

The LSU College of Music & Dramatic Arts is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Jeong-Eun Lee as Assistant Professor of Collaborative Piano.

Dr. Lee is an accomplished pianist, educator, and chamber musician, widely respected for her artistry, versatility, and dedication to the collaborative process. Her appointment marks a significant addition to the School’s piano faculty where her experience and perspective will enrich both the curriculum and the artistic life of the LSU community.

Prior to joining LSU, Dr. Lee held teaching positions at several institutions, including the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she served as Assistant Professor of Instruction, and Indiana University, where she was a Visiting Professor and Postdoctoral Scholar. She has also held collaborative piano roles at the State University of New York at Geneseo and Riverside City College in California.

A committed chamber musician, Dr. Lee is the founding pianist of Trio Zenia, with violinist Jacob Schafer and cellist Patricia Ryan. She was also the pianist of the San Francisco-based Trio 507, an ensemble recognized at the Coleman National Chamber Music Competition. Dr. Lee is a passionate advocate for duo piano repertoire and regularly presents diverse programs throughout the United States.

Her engagement with contemporary music has led to performances with ensembles such as Loop38 and the SOLI Chamber Ensemble, including participation in the latter’s 30x30x30 Project, a celebrated initiative for new music.

Dr. Lee has performed as a soloist with orchestras across the country, including the Seattle Symphony, the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, and the Eastern Music Festival Orchestra, following her orchestral debut with the Skagit Valley Symphony. Her festival and workshop appearances include the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, SongFest, CollabFest, and the National Flute Association. Most recently, she was named an invited artist for SongStudio at Carnegie Hall, led by renowned soprano Renée Fleming.

During the summer months, Dr. Lee serves on the faculty of the Aspen Music Festival and School as a collaborative pianist and performance coach.

Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Lee holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Jean Barr and Nelita True. She earned her Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying under Yoshikazu Nagai.
